Shrewsbury School Tour

Recently, Morris Lubricants’ Technology Manager, Adrian Hill, welcomed a group of secondary school students from Shrewsbury School for an in‑depth tour of Morris Lubricants' factory.

The visit began with an introduction from Adrian, who shared the history of the company before leading a training seminar on the functions of oils and lubricants. He emphasised the importance of using high‑quality oils, lubricants and greases that meet the correct manufacturer specifications, an insight that clearly interested the students. When Adrian opened the floor for questions, the group didn’t hold back. The quality of the students’ questions was impressive and showed a genuine enthusiasm to explore the chemistry behind oils and lubricants, how they are manufactured, and the industry as a whole.

The next stage of the visit was to take a tour around the manufacturing site. The students were able to see first-hand what Adrian had taught them and the results of recent major capital investment across the factory. They followed the full production journey: from the arrival and storage of raw materials such as base oils and additives, through to the state‑of‑the‑art blending tanks, and onto the Quality Control Laboratory, where the students saw how Morris Lubricants maintains its high product standards. The visit concluded in the filling hall, where a range of pack sizes are produced.

By the end of the tour, the students had gained a clear understanding of the many processes that underpin a leading oil and lubricants manufacturer.
