Shropshire charities get a boost from Paterson Enterprises

The parent company of one of Shropshire’s oldest businesses has donated £2,500 to support deserving charities within the county.

Paterson Enterprises Limited, parent company to Morris Lubricants - founded in 1869 - has donated the money to Shropshire Community Foundation (SCF).

Morris Lubricants has been based in Shrewsbury for 157 years and manufactures quality oils, lubricants and greases which are exported to more than 100 countries worldwide.

Paterson Enterprises has agreed to support SCF through Shropshire Investors in Community (SIIC). Launched in partnership with Shropshire’s High Sheriff in 2022-‘23, Selina Graham, Shropshire Investors in Community (SIIC) is open to organisations of all sizes who would like to make an impactful, sustainable and positive difference to those most in need across the county.

SCF has so far distributed grants totalling more than £180,000 to charities and community groups across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, helping to build stronger communities and supporting those who are disadvantaged.

SCF matches “those who want to make a difference with those who have a specific challenge to overcome”. The Foundation enables donors to invest in communities and causes where funding is most needed and where donations will have the greatest impact.

“We don’t compete with local charities but instead act as a philanthropic hub to direct funds to them,” explained Foundation CEO Joanna Morris. “We are cause-neutral and provide an informed and professional channel for anyone looking to give within Shropshire.”

Andrew Goddard, Morris Lubricants’ Executive Chairman, said: “Selina Graham, Shropshire Community Foundation’s chair of trustees, made the initial approach to Paterson Enterprises, seeking support to help fund the many charities and worthy causes across the county.

“The company is delighted to support the Foundation, which plays such an important role in ensuring that donated money goes to where it’s needed most across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.”

Selina Graham, SCF’s chair of trustees, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Paterson Enterprises to our community of businesses. Their long-term commitment to philanthropic endeavours embodies exactly what the SIIC is about.

“By joining the SIIC, businesses work collaboratively to positively impact the lives of others across Shropshire and help to build a long-term, sustainable charity initiative for the county.”

The Shropshire Community Foundation’s Investors in Community initiative enables member businesses to create and deliver truly impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social and Governance strategies across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.
