Morris Lubricants Racing Weekend Round-Up 16-17 April 2022

Over the weekend, it was the return of the British Truck Racing Championship that took place at Brands Hatch, with a weekend of exhilarating racing taking place. Dave Jenkins was hoping to go one better than last season and win the title. In Division One, Dave has been joined by Craig Reid of Reid Trucksport, who coasted to the Division Two title last season. As well as Dave and Craig, they were also joined on the grid by another Morris Lubricants Racing Ambassador, as Simon Reid, Craig's brother, made his return to the sport after taking a break for a couple of years.

Moreover, nine-times British Champion, Luke Harris had a meeting as he was at the Tallington Twister in Peterborough, looking to improve on a frustrating first meeting two weeks ago.

Having finished in second place in a nailbiting finale in the British Truck Racing Championship in 2021, Dave Jenkins is looking to go one better in his MAN TGX 12000 truck this season. He needed to hit the ground running in the first meeting which took place at Brands Hatch at the weekend.

Qualifying in fourth place, Dave battled hard for third position in the first of five races, marginally finishing behind third and fourth position, in fifth place. By the second race, Dave lined up on the front row of the grid, alongside long-time rival Ryan Smith. Dave made no mistake in this race, taking the win with a comfortable gap of five seconds from Smith. By Sunday's racing, Dave continued where he left Saturday, picking up his second victory of the weekend. In the next two races of the weekend, Dave picked up fourth position in both races.

Dave's next race weekend will be at Pembrey Circuit on 7th and 8th May.

Craig Reid was looking to take his incredible form in Division Two in 2021 to the First Division in 2022 in his Iveco Stralis 13000 truck. The 2021 Divison Two champion had a solid weekend, averaging a mid-pack finish, with his strongest result coming in the third race on Sunday morning, where he finished fourth. This result was a big improvement from Saturday where he was forced to settle for sixth and twelfth place finishes in races one and two, respectively. In the final two races of Sunday and the weekend, Craig took seventh and sixth spots.

Craig will be looking to pick up more points at the next meeting at Pembrey Circuit in less than three weeks time at Pembrey Circuit.

Craig's brother, Simon, returned to truck racing for the first time in nearly two years, as he competed in the First Division of the British Truck Racing Championship at Brands Hatch. Also in an identical Iveco Stralis 13000, Simon raced like he had never been away, which culminated in a race win in the final race of the weekend. The weekend could have gone even better for Simon, as despite a strong performance in qualifying for the first race, Simon's truck developed a problem which resulted in him unable to take to the grid. Simon did however, take to the grid for all the other races, finishing in fourth, seventh and fifth in races two, three and four, before winning the final round.

Simon will also be heading to Pembrey for the next round of the British Truck Racing Championship, looking to continue his fine form at Brands Hatch.

Grasstrack and Speedway star, Luke Harris heading to the Tallington Twister at Peterborough over the bank holiday Easter weekend to ride in the 350cc class. In a frustrating day that was delayed several times due to accidents, Luke showed huge improvements as the day went on. Despite not making the best start in his first race, Luke made his way through the pack and ended up taking third place. The second race was a much better one as Luke was in second place for the majority of it, overtaking on the final lap to take the victory. Going into the final, which was cut down to three laps due to the time delays, Luke was level on points with another rider, meaning who won the race would then take the overall victory. Luke made a fantastic start, followed by another last lap pass, which put him in first place. He took the chequered flag and the win, which has boosted his confidence no end.

Luke's next race will be at Dalton Grasstrack in Oxford on 30th April and 1st May.
