Morris Lubricants Racing Weekend Round-Up 7-8 May 2022

Morris Lubricants Racing Weekend Round-Up 7-8 May 2022

It was the latest round of the British Truck Racing Championship for three Morris Lubricants Racing Ambassadors as they headed to Pembrey Circuit for the second round of action. Dave Jenkins, Simon Reid and Craig Reid were all in action. As well as the truck racers, grasstrack star Luke Harris was back on his bike in Cornwall, looking to qualify for the British Masters in July.

Dave Jenkins headed to Pembrey in second place in the leaderboard after a strong showing in the season opener at Brands Hatch just three weeks before. It was a challenging weekend for the truck racing veteran, as he finished in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh in the four races that he competed in. Unfortunately in the fourth race, Dave was unable to start, due to mechanical issues with his MAN TGX 12000.

Dave now looks forward to the next round at Thruxton on 9th and 10th July.

Having picked up a race win at the first meeting of the year at Brands Hatch three weeks ago, Simon Reid was hoping to add more points and victories to the board at Pembrey. At times, Reid found the race challenging, finishing in fourth, eighth and eleventh in the first three rounds before picking up another race win in the fourth of the five races that took place, before finishing the weekend in sixth place in the final race.

Simon will be looking forward to the next round at Thruxton on 9th and 10th July, where he will be hoping for a little more consistency at the front of the circuit.

The other half of Reid Trucksport, Craig, was also keen to pick up some valuable points at Pembrey. The 2021 Division 2 Champion improved as the weekend went on, going from eleventh in the first race, before finishing in ninth, tenth, seventh and fifth in the final race of the weekend.

Having consistently been placed half way down the standings in the first two meetings of the year, Craig will be looking to improve and challenge the podium places when he heads to Thruxton on 9th and 10th July.

Nine-times British Champion Luke Harris was in action at the Cornwall British Masters Qualification event. The top-12 riders on the day qualified for the British Masters which takes place in July. Luke got off to a flying start, winning three of the four qualification rounds and narrowly finishing in second place in the other race. Luke had qualified for the Masters by this point, before heading to the semi final, where he finished in third place and qualified for the sudden death final. In the final, Luke didn't have his best ride, finishing in fourth position, which was a little disappointing considering how he started the event, but the important thing was that he qualified for the British Masters.

Luke's next event takes place at Chelmsford this weekend, on 14th and 15th May.
